Toilet Repair

Some toilet concerns could be DIY fixes if you’re a handy homeowner, but if the problems are recurring, getting worse, or you just don’t want to attempt a repair yourself, there’s no shame in calling our expert plumbers!

If you notice any of these conditions, call our pros today.

Constantly Running or Flushing Toilet

A toilet that sounds like it’s running all the time most likely has a problem with the tank and, more specifically, with the flush valve and flapper. Check to see if the flapper is sealing entirely and replace it if it’s not.

If the toilet continues to run, the flush valve or tank-to-bowl gasket may need to be replaced. At this point, it’s best to call a pro.

Unable to Flush

First, check that the toilet handle isn’t too loose or too tight because either can prevent you from flushing. The handle should be able to be pulled down and then raised back up without difficulty.

The most common reason a toilet won’t flush is due to a clog. For tough clogs, turn off the water supply valve and clear the blockage with a plunger. Then open the water valve and flush a few times to ensure the obstruction is gone.

If the blockage won’t go or your toilet continually clogs for no apparent reason, seek the help of our plumbing team.

Tank Won’t Fill

When your toilet tank doesn’t fill again after you’ve flushed, check inside the tank to verify the flapper is sealing. Then make sure the water supply valve is completely open to allow a sufficient amount of water to refill the tank.

If both parts are functioning correctly, the problem is likely due to low water pressure. At this point, call our team to investigate the source of the water flow problem. It could be an undetected leak in your pipes or other more serious concerns.

Leaky Toilet

The two most common places for a toilet to leak are from the tank and around the base. A tank leak is usually caused by a crack in the tank or in the gasket connecting the tank to the bowl.

A leak around the base could indicate the bolts securing the toilet to the floor are loose or damaged, the anchor flange is damaged, or the ring that seals the toilet to the waste pipe is cracked.

For any of these repairs, we recommend working with a plumber with experience in these problems and the right tools for the job.

Your Bathroom Smells Like Sewage

A constant rotten or sewage smell in your bathroom indicates that the plastic or wax ring around your toilet base is broken, allowing sewer gases to seep into your space. These gases can be harmful to your health, so you should call a professional plumber immediately if these smells don’t go away.
